My Story

Every one has a story that got them where they are today.  To keep it short and sweet I will start with the catalyst that first changed my life.  I am the mother of a son with Autism and I went to a Tricky Tray fundraiser for a school that caters to children with Special Needs. At that time I was 40 years old, 40+ pounds overweight (again) and was separated from my husband (he was living in the basement...talk about stressful).  I had 2 small children, was feeling miserable, was taking anti-depressants and was drinking way too much wine. I was stuck and I really thought that this is what my life would always be.

In case you are not aware, a Tricky Tray is a fundraiser where you buy tickets and put your tickets in a variety of donated baskets hoping to win one.  Well, I won one!!!  As the fates would have it I won a 3-month membership to a local gym and that gym had childcare!!  I began by taking a few classes and I always felt better after the classes.  I started making some healthier choices when it came to food and I cut back on my wine intake. One day at the gym a fellow member asked how I was and I said “Awesome”.  Her mouth fell open and she said “wow… I wish I could be awesome”.  At that moment I realized that feeling awesome was a choice.  My thoughts directly affected my feelings. I began to focus on more positive things that I could control. I began to realize that mindset is everything.

Over the next 3 months I lost 40 pounds. Close to 3 years later I decided to get NASM Certified and began working part time as Personal Trainer.  This was a huge change from being an Internal Auditor, my prior career, which was very unfulfilling for me.  I realized that I wanted to make a difference in peoples’ lives and help them be happier and healthier.  I earned my first certification in 2009 and I never looked back.

Since then I have never stopped learning and now have multiple certifications under my belt.  I truly believe I have found the key to becoming Healthy and Fulfilled.

Being a mother of a special needs child, a daughter of a father with a gambling addiction, the ex-wife of a husband with an alcohol addiction and grieving the passing of the father of my children along with my other life obstacles I have much experience dealing with and overcoming the ups and downs in this rollercoaster ride we call life.   Helping others realize that they too have the ability to overcome anything life can throw at them has become my purpose.
